And you are right: people who try to come in and serve as "human shields" are briefed and told what can happen to them. But I must say: so far, it doesn't look good for Israeli soldiers. Amnysty International and others have loads of evidence of the Israeli army's sorry treatment of Palestinian civilians and the non-Palestinians who attempt to help them. The targeting includes ambulances that come to pick up the wounded. They believe this Israeli treatment is part of the collective punishment concept: Don't just kill the so-called Palestinian terrorist or terrorists: punish the entire community or village to teach them a lesson. Of course they mention that Palestinians hands are not clean either. But I'm still looking into this stuff, because Israeli soldiers are doing this with armaments made by America and paid for by American taspayers. Thanks.

CurbyGurl: Yes, a girl can hope. This guy can too. But given the sorry news media in this country, I find myself listening to BBC and reading foreign newspapers. They seem to have a more balanced view and journalists on the ground providing more specifics. On the other hand, in America give headlines or, in the case of MSNBC, give headlines and turn loose pundits to argue talking points.

And then you the news selection. While they're arguing about something Dick Cheney said and the response of someone from, say, the Obama administration, BBC journalist are on the ground showing positive as well as negative things about countries in Africa or the bravery of individuals or families under stress in places like Iran or Iraq. The news is significantly better, and, as a result, the people are more informed. They are not perfect either, but their news is significantly better than that of the U.S.Mac Daddy Tribute Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01483912561779369669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7737268075572482842.post-74151323780598089842009-04-01T21:47:00.000-05:002009-04-01T21:47:00.000-05:00The media really needs to highlight stories like t...The media really needs to highlight stories like this...a girl can hope, right :-)?♥ CG ♥https://www.blogger.com/profile/06312573343401136201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7737268075572482842.post-91346989849519017272009-04-01T15:29:00.000-05:002009-04-01T15:29:00.000-05:00There are things in this world that are not fair a...There are things in this world that are not fair and I can feel for this family. However they knew and were briefed before going into Gaza that Israel has a policy of using deadly force at anytime like the South Koreans. I lived in a deadly force zone in South Korea, followed the rules and came home. In the US deadly force does not mean the same thing as in Israel, South Korea and many countries. In many countries deadly force means if you cross a certain line, do certain things you are subject to be shot. Regardless of moral considerations. In the 67 war Israel killed 10,000 soldiers who tried to surrender. In war wounded and those who surrender slow you down and can at times cost you your own soldiers lives. During that same war Israel sank one of our naval spy vessels killing everyone on board. Many times during military operations things are not as they seem or appear. I will not stickup for any countries military unless the entire story is known. On the surface this seems like a deadly force zone but I have no way of knowing since I was not there. Just another view from a different angle.rainywalkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13445164335609548931noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7737268075572482842.post-30719806712209221282009-04-01T10:26:00.000-05:002009-04-01T10:26:00.000-05:00Thanks for shining your light on these guys....Thanks for shining your light on these guys....Vigilantehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07640246609540057997noreply@blogger.com
