TALK TO THE DADDY

Hello. Come on in. The daddy writes about current events, literature, music and, once in a while, drops something on you from back in the day to make you pause and ponder, stop and stare, and begin to wonder. Who knows? You may start to pace the floor, shake your head from side to side, then fall down on bended knees in a praying position and cry, "Lawd, have mercy! What is this world coming to?" Check yourself! But this blog is NOT about the daddy. It's about you: your boos, your fam, your hood, your country...our hopes and dreams of a better tomorrow. So let's make a pact: the daddy will put it on the track if you'll chase it down and hit him back. Together, we can definitely take it to another level. Shall we?"

JUSTICE SOTOMAYOR: CONGRATULATIONS!!!

"With this historic vote, the Senate has affirmed that Justice Sotomayor has the intellect, the temperament, the history, the integrity and the independence of mind to ably serve on our nation's highest court."
--President Barack Obama

Listen up. It's all official now: Sonia Sotomayor was confirmed on Thursday as the nation's first Hispanic Supreme Court justice, a history-making event that is a clear victory for Latinos, and the Obama administration and the democratic party.

The third woman in court history, she'll be sworn in Saturday as the 111th justice and the first nominated by a Democrat in 15 years.

The Senate vote was 68-31 to confirm Sotomayor, President Barack Obama's first Supreme Court nominee, with Democrats unanimously behind her but most Republicans lining up in a show of opposition both for her and for the president's standards for a justice.

The 55-year-old daughter of Puerto Rican parents was raised in a South Bronx housing project and educated in the Ivy League before rising to the highest legal echelons, spending the past 17 years as a federal judge.

Sotomayor watched the vote on TV at a federal courthouse in New York City, among friends and colleagues.

Justice Sotomayor, congratulations!

Now all we can do is hope that a few more of them retire under Obama's watch so that he can keep right on with his appointments.

Dear MacDaddy,
I am thrilled for Justice Sotomayor, for our country and for my Latino brothers and sisters, many of whom are close friends....Their smiles are wide and their hearts are full today!
What concerns me about the Republicans, not only on this issue, is that their opposition to the Obabma administration is becoming more and more focused and systematic,(It matters not if the issue is 'Cash for Clunkers' or Health Care)... and our governor is right in the mix of negative attacks....That's kind of scary to me; we have to keep our momentum positive....What do you think?

Solomon: We can always hope. I'm particularly hoping that Justice Scalia or Justice Thomas will retire during Obama's tenure.

Nun: Yes, it's great to have people in positions of power that more reflect America as it is constituted today. As for the recent opposition to Obama, especially his healthcare plan, it shows that Obama not afraid to tackle the tough issues and how entrenched the insurance and pharmaceutical companies are. It also shows how Americans are deliberately kept ignorant about healthcare: For example, how well-run many government programs are and how healthcare is tied into our eonomy, especially jobs. Thanks, Sister.

Amen to all of you...

I was just listening to an ignoramus (pardon) rant about fighting the healthcare issue...yelling about real patriots not wanting the government involved in their healthcare..blah, blah, blah...I quietly looked up (trying to be the most ladylike anarchist I can muster) and said......"excuse me. But don't you have the VA for YOUR healthcare? Who do you think runs that, dickwad?"
Ah, daddy...I try. I really do try.
But sometimes these people just make me crazy. And I lose all sense of decorum...becasue you KNOW my mama didn't raise me like that...

;)

This makes me very proud to be an American, unlike those people protesting at the health care town halls.

I hope this is the first of many appointment to come for people of color.

Daddy, this is dead on: As for the recent opposition to Obama, especially his healthcare plan, it shows that Obama not afraid to tackle the tough issues and how entrenched the insurance and pharmaceutical companies are. It also shows how Americans are deliberately kept ignorant about healthcare.

People protesting about health care taking care of Americans at the Town Hall meetings are counterproductive and demonstrate the lack of information many Americans about the terrible lack of medical services in this country. I'm appalled that 25% of all Americans have no health care whatsoever. Sometimes, I think they're just scared of the word, “socialism.”

I remember Secretary Clinton in 1993 attempting to start reforms to the health care system. Had the GOP stopped their spin that she wasn't elected to office and had no right to work for reforms. How far ahead would we be now had Clinton been supported in her efforts. I hear no one talking about Dr. Jill Biden establishing three breast cancer centers and seven schools in Delaware. What's the difference? For the record, I admire her greatly..

I apologize for the digression, but R.J.'s comment resonated with me. As concerns Sotomayor: everything R.J. and Solomon said.

Great post, great comments. Justice Sotomayor. I love it!

I am of course very happy that we now have Justice Sotomayor in the U.S. Supreme Court! As a Latina I feel great that the first Latino in the Supreme Court is one that I truly believe will be a positive influence for many years and will have the ability to make the majority of America very proud. There will always be those who will see her as wrong for the court, wrong for America even---wrong because she does not look like them, act like them, nor want to become one of them. And yes I also hope that President Obama will have the opportunity to make one or two more appointments, but whatever happens, we can feel good about right now.

"Right on", Solomon!

Now that all the GOP's cards have been played (face up), those of us who laid down our bets years ago that 20th Century Dixiecrats would morph into 21st Century Republicants can collect our winnings and leave the table!

Did I really say that?

Thanks for the shout out Vigilante

I had some early reservations about Sotomayor, but most have been long dispelled. I also congratulate her and congratulate America on yet another great stride forward.

As to these town hall nutjobs...what can I say. As Bill Maher said, and I posted, a smart president doesn't always equal a smart country. That is really freaking sad....

Ours is an envionment where evil is perceived to be rewarded while good is punished. As with everything the Gods have a reason for creating this perception::::

People who fall on the good side of the good/evil scale have more favor, and when they do something wrong the Gods punish them BECAUSE THEY WANT THEM TO LEARN. The Gods want them to receive this feedback in hope they make corrections and begin to behave appropriately. The Gods DON'T like evil and refuse to grant this feedback.

EVERYBODY pays for what they do wrong, only evil people must wait until their next life before they will experience the wrath of the Gods, manifested in their reincarnation as a lower form of life into environments with increased/enhanced temptations.

Sadly, this allows the Gods to position this perception of evil rewarded as temptation, one which they use as an EXTREMELY effective corruptor.

Both Africa and the Medittereanean are regions which have sexual issues. This is a sign of morbid disfavor once you understand that females are the God's favored gender. Muhammad's (Mohammed's) polygamy halfway through his life as a prophet was preditory. Now a huge percentage of Muslims believes in male superiority and that the abuse of women is God's will. Female genital mutilation is still practiced in Africa. Black misogyny is the most eggregious example in the recent past.

The patriarchal cancer spread throughout Europe because of Christianity, of which the majority of policy makers were Italian men.

Militancy in Africa is consistant with the Iraqi example, as was slavery and the KKK here in America:::Fear enforces proper behavior. Without it we see what happens as a result of gross/morbid disfavor:::::AIDS, crack babies, dead young men in gangland retaliation killings.

The same principle was true in Europe and throughout the world for centuries:::People whom lived under iron fists were conditioned to think the right way. As a result they experienced higher numbers of children accend into heaven because they were taught to think and behave appropriately. Our preditory envionment of "freedom" was the primary purpose the Gods had when implimenting this strategy that is the United States, one which they used to spred the cancer of democracy and westernization throughout the world. And the Gods use this tool that is America to prey on the disfavored both at home and abroad.

Even the Old Testiment is not to be taken literally, but the Gods do offer clues throughout to help the disfavored:::The apple is a tool of temptation used to corrupt Adam and Eve and cast them out of the Garden of Eden.

There is another lesson to be learned from this passage, and it is quite similar to the vailing issue and the discourse over women's attire which ultimately died in the 70s:::Women are responsible for and control the fate of mankind.

The masculinization of women experienced in the last few decades should cause despondancy and desperation:::It illustrates the deterioration of mankind's collective favor and is a clue the Gods are preparing for some event.

Think about what I say. Consider what I teach. Society is going to become disturbingly ugly as we approach the Apocalypse due to spiralling, runaway disfavor.

I do not know when this will occurr, but it is the God's way to grant some time before they end on Planet Earth.

Make the decision to always be good and never look back. Until you do this technology will employ tactics to test your resolve:::Ridicule, beligerance, doubt and refusal to abandon what people perceive to be their "investment".

Pray daily. Think appropriately. Too many are confident, unaware of the God's awesome powers or their status as antients. Others may fall prey to their positioning.

Be humbled, God-fearing and beware of the God's temptations, for everyone is tested to evaluate their worthiness.
