TALK TO THE DADDY

Hello. Come on in. The daddy writes about current events, literature, music and, once in a while, drops something on you from back in the day to make you pause and ponder, stop and stare, and begin to wonder. Who knows? You may start to pace the floor, shake your head from side to side, then fall down on bended knees in a praying position and cry, "Lawd, have mercy! What is this world coming to?" Check yourself! But this blog is NOT about the daddy. It's about you: your boos, your fam, your hood, your country...our hopes and dreams of a better tomorrow. So let's make a pact: the daddy will put it on the track if you'll chase it down and hit him back. Together, we can definitely take it to another level. Shall we?"

Stevie Wonder: "There's a place in the sun"

There's a place in the sun
by Stevie Wonder

Like a long lonely stream

I keep runnin' towards a dream
Movin' on, movin' on
Like a branch on a tree
I keep reachin' to be free
Movin' on, movin' on

'Cause there's a place in the sun
Where there's hope for ev'ryone
Where my poor restless heart's gotta run
There's a place in the sun
And before my life is done
Got to find me a place in the sun

Like an old dusty road
I get weary from the load
Movin' on, movin' on
Like this tired troubled earth
I've been rollin' since my birth
Movin' on, movin' on

There's a place in the sun
Where there's hope for ev'ryone
Where my poor restless heart's gotta run
There's a place in the sun
And before my life is done
Got to find me a place in the sun

You know when times are bad

And you're feeling sad
I want you to always remember

Yes, there's a place in the sun
Where there's hope for ev'ryone
Where my poor restless heart's gotta run
There's a place in the sun
Where there's hope for ev'ryone
Where my poor restless heart's gotta run
There's a place in the sun
Where there's hope for ev'ryone...

Daddy, thanks for making me remember Stevie. It's been a long time coming, but I think we're finding our place in the sun.

Well there's a place in the sun for you Mr MacDaddy for day in and day out shining your light on the nuances of a poem, or lyrics we've overlooked, or an african american artist we've ignored or are ignorant of...and yes even your unique slant on the political scene despite all of your readers telling you we are tired of it. Shine on, MacDaddy!

anon1: Glad to help.

Anon2: Thanks.

Christopher: The dude was a good performer, a good writer and politically conscious way back in 68. And he was the one that spearheaded the drive for a Dr. King holiday. Pretty cool.

MadHatter: Nothing wrong. I'm just helping people to remember the cultural icons that mean so much to Black America...Sorry you don't like the song. A lot of black people do. It spells out their feelings about finding their place in this country.

But I'm looking forward to doing a post on Stevie Wonder soon. Blessings.
