TALK TO THE DADDY

Hello. Come on in. The daddy writes about current events, literature, music and, once in a while, drops something on you from back in the day to make you pause and ponder, stop and stare, and begin to wonder. Who knows? You may start to pace the floor, shake your head from side to side, then fall down on bended knees in a praying position and cry, "Lawd, have mercy! What is this world coming to?" Check yourself! But this blog is NOT about the daddy. It's about you: your boos, your fam, your hood, your country...our hopes and dreams of a better tomorrow. So let's make a pact: the daddy will put it on the track if you'll chase it down and hit him back. Together, we can definitely take it to another level. Shall we?"

No More Troubles, No More Pain

"Michael exemplified the paradox of many famous performers, being essentially shy, an introvert who would come to my house and spend most of the evening sitting by himself in a corner with his small children. I never saw less than a loving father when they were together (and wonder now, as anyone close to him would, what will happen to them in the aftermath). "
--Deepok Chopra

Michael, we understood. You were abused by your father. You had no childhood and tried to create one as an adult, however eccentric it made you look. But the corporate media, ever focused on celebrities than the art they produce, did its best to knock you down. When they did, you moved out of the country.

Now that you're gone, even the media has joined in the world-wide mourning-- for higher ratings of course. But fear not, Michael. You're in a better place now; and neither the media or your father can hurt you anymore.

Hello there Daddy,

I am mourning the death of Michael soooo immensely that I can't even describe it...

*loooong sigh*

What a wonderful, phenomenally-gifted black man who was tremendously misunderstood...

Lisa: Welcome. Yes, the world is. Now, I know I'm not a psychiatrist and that this is conjecture. But I don't think he ever quite recovered from physical abuse from his father and the parent's failure to let him have a childhood, which is a form of abuse itself...It feels so good to be hearing from you again.

Sad and happy--believing in God and that there is more than this, I imagine God made MJ whole in an instant, gave him instant peace and unsurpassable joy.

Kellybelle, that's the sweetest thought about MJ I've heard. Thanks.

Hi, MacDaddy,
We do such a number on our celebreties! Michael Jackson is indeed in a better place where his PERSONA is overshadowed by the REAL MICHAEL....The Michael who brought uncanny beauty to our world through the gift of music and dance....And, yes, it was through what he suffered that he gave a gift to the world.....I am grateful for the opportunity to witness such genius....May his mom and his children know some comfort and peace through the millions and millions who loved him....and may Michael be in the everlasting embrace of his Creator who IS LOVE for all Eternity.....I think that it was Quincy Jones who said that every time Michael performed, he emptied his cup, gave it his all...May we learn from such self-giving....

Another super gifted individual cut down in his prime. Abuse can do strange things to any of us, he is now safe!

Happy Birthday, Mac! Hope I'm not too late.

It may not look like it, but I'm mourning the death of Michael Jackson as well as Farrah, Ed McMahon and my sister. I can't believe all of them happened within four days of each other. That's too much death for me.

Robster: On top of all the other losses, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your sister. My condolences. Stay strong.

Nun: Thanks for the insightful comment. Yes, we do a job on celebrities. On the one hand, they want to be left alone in their personal lives (That's all Michael Jackson asked for). On the other hand, celebrities need the media to get noticed, to promote their work, or to relate to them as artists. The corporate media takes it a step further and invades their privacy, watching their every move. They use cameras with long lens to look into their yards and inside their homes. They even use helicopters to get pictures. But Michael won't have to worry about any of this anymore.

I'm sitting here listening to MJ right now.

We've had a 40 year relationship. He gave his gift of music and I gladly accepted it.

What a remarkable talent he really is...
